Tips for Taking Headshots at Your Workplace
Headshots can be such a fantastic tool for building your brand as a professional and as a business. While many people have their headshots taken in an individual session at my portrait studio, if you’re a business owner, you can also opt for a headshot photo session for yourself and potentially your key team members right at your office in the Seattle area. I know exactly how to paint you and your team in the best light and highlight your brand along the way!
If you’re considering one of these sessions, I’ll walk you through the entire process, but here are a few tips to help it all go smoothly.
First Things First: Make Sure Your Office is Suitable for Headshots
As much as you might love the idea of office-based headshots, the simple truth is that not every office is well-suited to photography. If your office has very little natural light or it wouldn’t do well with the lighting I bring, for example, or if it just doesn’t have the type of aesthetics that you want to represent you and your brand, then it might not be the best option.
Don’t worry, because that’s what I’m here for! I can help you determine if your office is a good choice for your company’s headshots, and if not, I’ll help you figure out another option, whether it’s at my Mercer Island photography studio, at a shared space in your office’s building, or in another location.
Talk to Your Photographer About Preparing the Space
You and your photographer can determine the best place in the office to take your photos based on factors like lighting, aesthetics and background colors. But depending on how many people will be having their headshots taken, you probably want to prepare some prepping space too. You might set aside a particular room or bathroom for your team to touch up their hair and makeup, make sure their outfit looks right, and anything else they may want to do. Your photographer can help you figure out what you need based on your specific plans for your session.
Have a Plan in Place for Group and Individual Photos
Every client wants to make the most of the time they have with a professional photographer, and I get it, I definitely want you to get your money’s worth! So it’s common for a company to have headshots for individual executives as well as different types of group photos, like a photo of leadership together, photos for specific departments, and so on. But we’ve all seen how chaotic it can get when you’re trying to organize different subgroups within a large group of people, and I want your photo shoot to be as stress-free as possible.
That’s why we’ll talk about all the different groups and types of photos you want in advance so we can make a plan. We can arrange it to be as seamless as possible and let your team know the plan so they know who needs to be where and when.
