Why I Limit My Clients Each Month
I always advise clients to try to book a couple of months in advance if they can, because my schedule may fill up (although if you’re on a tighter timeline, it’s always worth reaching out to me to check because cancellations do happen). Sometimes people ask in response, “Wow, you have photo shoots every day for the next two months?!” Thankfully, no, but instead I have a limit on the number of clients I book each month, and there are very important reasons for that - reasons that benefit every client I work with.
What Goes Into the Price of Premium Photography?
Every time you make a purchase, even if you don’t realize it, you look for the “sweet spot” between cost and quality. A $10,000 car and a $100,000 car are both cars, but they’re very different - what’s your sweet spot where you’re getting the quality you want with a price that’s acceptable? Every purchase has a sweet spot, and the same goes for photography.
We all have budgets to stick to, and some clients ask, “Why shouldn’t I just hire the lowest-cost photographer I can find? What’s the difference between their service and yours?” A lot, actually! In premium photography, like the custom service I offer, the value comes from so much more than the time I spend on your photo shoot.
Tips for Urban Photo Shoots IN SEATTLE
If you love the look of a photoshoot in town, either in a chic city environment or in a sweet small town, I’ve got you! Explore these tips for enjoying and getting the most out of your urban photo shoot.
What Is a Full-Service Photographer and Why Should You Hire One?
It’s no secret that there are a lot of independent photographers and photography studios in the Seattle area. So many of them do beautiful work, but everyone’s photos are just a bit different and have their own look and style to them. But beyond aesthetic differences, when you’re choosing a photographer for your family portraits or your branding photos or whatever it may be, another difference to consider is the experience you want with your photographer.
Each of us does things a bit differently, and I’m proud to give my clients an attentive and unique experience as a full-service photographer.
Can You Have a Great Maternity Photo Shoot If It Rains?
We’ve all had our plans changed or ruined entirely, more than a few times, because the weather has other plans. As a maternity photographer in the Seattle area, I’ve seen more than my fair share of uninvited rain clouds. But does rain have to ruin your maternity photo shoot if those clouds roll in on your day? Or can you still have a maternity photo shoot in the rain?
What to Wear for Maternity Photos
Before you start scouring the web for the perfect maternity gowns, talk to your photographer because you might not need to! This isn’t the case for all Seattle area photographers, but I’ve built a large and varied client closet with so many different sizes and styles of maternity gowns that there’s something for everyone! As my client, you’ll have full use of this selection for your session, and many of my clients choose to use these gowns exclusively for their sessions.
With that said, there’s nothing wrong with bringing some options of your own too! If you do want to bring your own maternity photo shoot outfits, here are some tips.
Top Reasons Moms-to-Be Say They Aren’t Booking Maternity Photos - And Why You Still Should!
I can’t tell you how often a client tells me, “I was hesitant/nervous about maternity photos, but I’m so incredibly glad that I did it!” And as much as I love those moments, it also saddens me to think about all the amazing moms out there who were hesitant too but made a different decision and didn’t venture out of their comfort zone for maternity portraits.
If you’re on the fence, I completely get it! Trust me when I say that you don’t have to worry nearly as much as you think. Here are some of the top reasons I hear from women about why they haven’t booked their maternity photos yet and how I ease their fears.
Questions to Ask Your Maternity Photographer
Your maternity portraits should be relics that you treasure for a lifetime! At the risk of sounding too alarmist, though, you only really get one chance at maternity photos for each pregnancy. There’s a specific time frame in your pregnancy that’s perfect for maternity photography and if you book a session and aren’t happy with your photos, chances are you won’t be able to get another session before your baby’s born or before you’re too uncomfortable to enjoy your photo shoot. As a Seattle area maternity photographer, these are the questions I recommend asking to make sure the photographer you’re booking is the right fit for you.

When you go book a photo session with me, you might have two different options: a custom session or a mini session.
