What Goes Into the Price of Premium Photography?
Every time you make a purchase, even if you don’t realize it, you look for the “sweet spot” between cost and quality. A $10,000 car and a $100,000 car are both cars, but they’re very different - what’s your sweet spot where you’re getting the quality you want with a price that’s acceptable? Every purchase has a sweet spot, and the same goes for photography.
We all have budgets to stick to, and some clients ask, “Why shouldn’t I just hire the lowest-cost photographer I can find? What’s the difference between their service and yours?” A lot, actually! In premium photography, like the custom service I offer, the value comes from so much more than the time I spend on your photo shoot.
Years of Ongoing Experience and Training
Simply put, when you hire me for, say, a one-hour photo shoot, you’re not just paying me for that one hour. You’re paying for the years of experience and training that it took for me to be able to create incredible portraits for you in that one hour. You simply get better images from a photo shoot with a highly experienced and thoroughly trained photographer than you’d get from a shoot with a novice photographer. Plenty of new photographers have wonderful talent, but it takes years of education and practice to turn that talent into exceptional photos.
High Quality Equipment
In developing my photography business, I’ve invested in top quality equipment like professional cameras and lighting for a reason. All of this equipment plays a role in creating premium photos, and you really need every bit of quality when your portraits are going to become custom artwork that you display in your home. The photos you take on your phone might look fine on your phone screen, but for large and display-quality artwork, you need quality equipment, and photographers have to charge premium prices to afford professional equipment.
Luxury Props, Accessories and Wardrobe
The details can make a world of difference! Every photo shoot I do is customized to my client, so I have an abundant collection of size-inclusive wardrobe pieces for clients to wear, as well as props and accessories. It has taken time and investment to build up my collection, but that’s part of the benefit of premium photography - a custom shoot designed with high-quality pieces.
Time for One-on-One Service
When clients book with me, they don’t have to worry about a thing because I have it all covered and will walk them through every step of the process, from meeting to discuss their vision for the portraits to helping them plan their wardrobe to providing professional hair and makeup services for the shoot, and so much more. Part of what you’re paying for is that one-on-one level of service and the time it takes to give you my full attention and consideration.
Concierge Photo Display
My personalized service doesn’t end after your photo shoot. Not only will I polish your photos so that every detail is authentically beautiful but I’ll also walk you through how to display your artwork. I can work with you to design and order your artwork, whether you want framed prints, canvas prints, albums, or other options, and I’ll make sure that they’re perfect and ready for your home.
Custom premium photography brings value in so many ways, from a better experience to better photos to a better display for your photos, and I’m honored to provide this for so many clients in the Seattle area. To learn more, contact my Mercer Island photo studio and let’s chat!
