As a photographer, I’m proud to have a varied portfolio of photo sessions - I enjoy family portraits, newborn photos, maternity photos, and other types of sessions, all for different reasons. But for the past few years, I’ve been especially investing in my branding photography, in part because, as a woman business owner myself, I’ve seen the need for branding photography that’s specifically geared toward women. Here’s why!
Styling for Women
Styling is a big part of branding photos because your look communicates so much of your brand. Your outfit, your hair and makeup, your accessories, all of it combines to communicate messages about who you are as a professional. In planning your photo shoot, I’ll be able to help you put all those details together to craft a look that speaks volumes with the right message.
Posing That Flatters Women
Posing and framing can be so different for women compared to men (as many of us have seen when we compared the photos of us that our husbands have taken vs. the ones our friends have taken). Our bodies are shaped differently, and the way we want to look is different. I have many years of experience in posing and flattering women’s bodies, and that includes my branding photography for women.
Understanding How to Brand Women
There are unique challenges that come with being a woman in the business world. Sometimes our words and actions are interpreted differently compared to men, and the expectations are often different for women in these settings when compared to men. Because of this, there are fine lines that women walk when it comes to branding, wanting to appear assertive but not aggressive and welcoming but not weak. As a woman business owner myself, I understand those challenges well, and I’ll help you to find an authentic and empowering brand look and bring that look to life in your photos.
Ease and Comfort
There’s a vulnerability in having your photo taken, and in trusting someone to take photos of you that you’ll be happy with. Many women are simply more comfortable working with other women in a setting like this, or you might feel like you communicate better with women than men. Either one is valid, and I’m happy to create an atmosphere where you feel at ease for your branding photos.
