As a professional photographer who also has a background in public relations, I have a special passion for branding photography, helping my clients create and grow the businesses that, in many cases, they’ve been working toward for years. It’s always an exciting challenge to create images that capture your brand beautifully, but there are some of these photo shoots that hold a special added challenge, too: rebranding an existing business into something completely new.

A rebrand is a major project for your business, and it’s one that can play a huge role in your success. To help you make your investment count, I’m sharing a few tips about what to keep in mind for your rebranding photo shoot.

Develop and Communicate a Clear Understanding of Your New Brand

When I’m doing a branding photo shoot for an existing business, I rely largely on my client’s own description of their brand and the look they want to accomplish. But I can also take a look at their website, social media, and other marketing to further get a feel for their brand. In the case of a rebrand, though, that side research isn’t an option. In these cases, it’s more important than ever that you and I have a really in-depth conversation about the new brand that you’re aiming for and how we can communicate that in your photos.

Plan for the Types of Images You Need

Rebranding is a big job. You have to rebuild your social media presence, remake all of your marketing materials from your website to your business cards, and more. Most of those things need beautiful images that align with your new brand. To make sure you get what you need, we’ll plan your rebranding photo shoot together and talk through the different types of images that you’ll need for your rebrand, making sure all of your bases are covered.

Think Cohesion

Usually, building a brand is something that happens little by little over time. You progressively add to your brand’s image through your online presence, ads, client experiences, and so on. When you’re rebranding an existing business, though, it’s much trickier. You’re not just showing people the new you, you’re trying to override the brand that they once knew. So when you launch your rebrand, it’s particularly important that you have all your ducks in a row and have a clear, unified brand story.

This is something we’ll focus on in your rebranding photo shoot: making sure your images are strongly aligned with your new brand and that they communicate a clear difference from your old brand.
