Personal Touches to Include in Your Boudoir Photos

One of my favorite things about photography is that no two sessions are alike. And they shouldn’t be, because it’s all about celebrating you and this time of your life, you’re one of a kind! Boudoir photography is no exception, and in fact, because these types of photo shoots are all about embracing your beauty and finding confidence in everything that makes you unique, boudoir photo sessions can be even more creative and individualized.

When you work with me at my Seattle area photography studio, we’ll plan all the exciting details of your photo shoot together. But in the meantime, if you’re looking for some inspiration for what you can bring to personalize your boudoir photos, try these ideas.

Bring Props Based on Your Passions

My boudoir photography isn’t typically prop-heavy (after all, you’re the real star), but a few well-selected props can be a fantastic way to add a more personal touch to your photos. It can be fun to incorporate items like books, sporting equipment, art supplies, and so on into sexy portraits. If you’d like to bring some props, we can chat about some ideas in your consultation.

Wear Sentimental Garments, Jewelry, or Accessories

Part of my process is meeting with every client in advance to talk through what to expect and how to prepare for the session, including what to wear. Everyone thinks of lingerie when they think of boudoir photography, but you can get a little more creative with it, too. Imagine a stunning portrait in your favorite sports jersey, or even wearing only a sentimental necklace, a la Kate Winslet in Titanic.

Include a Hidden Wink to Your Partner

Boudoir photography really focuses on celebrating you, but let’s be honest, you know your partner is going to love your photos too. For some extra playfulness, you can incorporate something into your photo shoot that’s an inside nod to them. For instance, there are fun and sexy ways to incorporate memories from your relationship, like a ticket stub from your first date or an anniversary gift. You could also have a shot of two wearing one of your partner’s items, like a jersey, a tie, or a piece of their work uniform.
