Why Boudoir Photography is Perfect for Moms

Of all the different types of photography I offer, from family portraits to branding photograph, boudoir photography is easily the most misunderstood one. So many women think that they don’t have the confidence for it or that they should wait until they’ve sculpted their ideal body, or, especially heartbreaking, so many moms think that it’s something they should have done when they were younger, but they missed their chance.

As both a mom and a photographer who has watched so many of my clients come to life in the course of a boudoir photo shoot, I can tell you that moms are actually perfect for these sessions! Here’s why.

Reclaiming Your Independence as a Woman

So many moms are truly selfless, and their lives revolve around caring for their families. But it’s easy to lose yourself and your identity as an individual. You’re so much more than a caregiver, a cook, a chauffeur, a schedule manager…you’re a wholly complex person of your own, and sometimes we forget this about ourselves in motherhood.

A boudoir photo shoot is an amazing way to reignite your sense of self in a positive and empowering way. It’s not just about rediscovering your sensuality, it’s about rediscovering your strength and worth as a human being.

Embracing Your Beautiful Body

Motherhood is hard for a lot of reasons, and one of them is the way that many women change physically. All the changes that come from pregnancy and motherhood can make it difficult to recognize yourself and feel comfortable in your body, whether or not you’ve struggled with body image in the past.

Boudoir photography gives you irrefutable proof that that voice in your head, the one telling you that you’re not as beautiful as you used to be, is downright wrong. In the course of your session and seeing your photos, you’ll be reminded that you’re utterly stunning today, exactly as you are.

Creating an Everlasting Reminder

You know how great you feel when you get a blowout at the salon? You could take on the world in that moment. But of course, eventually that confidence fades. The same thing happens with boudoir photography in a way - you’ll leave your photo shoot feeling on top of the world, like the absolute bombshell you are. But eventually you will have some hard days, and you’ll have some days when you don’t feel beautiful.

That’s the beauty of boudoir photography, though - not only do you get the uplifting experience of the photo shoot, but you also get the portraits to keep. In a moment of low confidence, you can look at your boudoir photos, and they’ll transport you back to the experience of your boudoir photo shoot and the confidence that it inspired in you.

Booking a Boudoir Photo Shoot for Yourself or the Special Mom in Your Life

If you’re a mom who feels like you’ve lost your spark, a boudoir photo shoot might be the perfect gift to yourself to bring that spark back. Or, if your wife is a mom who works hard for your family every day and she doesn’t see the beauty that you see, this photo shoot could make a perfect gift for her. Either way, reach out to Jaimié Birtel Photography and let’s chat!
