Nervous About a Boudoir Photo Shoot? Read This!

You thought about boudoir photography for a while, about whether it might be a fun and uplifting experience for you, and one day you decided you’re worth investing in and you booked your session. But after a while, self-doubt started to creep back in, and you got nervous. Am I really going to be comfortable in front of the camera? Do I actually want to feel that bare and exposed?

So many of my clients go through this before their boudoir photo shoot, and I’m here to assure you that it’s completely natural! Boudoir photography is a big step outside the comfort zone for most women, and in fact, that’s kind of the point - being brave and embracing who you are to rediscover your confidence.

If you’ve booked your photo shoot at my Seattle-area boudoir photo studio, here are some facts you can remind yourself of to ease your mind.

  • The only people who will see your photos are the people you choose to show them to.

Your photo shoot is entirely confidential and discreet. It’ll just be you and me! You have complete control over who sees and doesn’t see your photos, and you don’t even have to tell anyone you’re having a photo shoot if you don’t want to. The only clients whose photos appear on my site are those who gave their explicit consent for me to display them.

  • Your session focuses on highlighting your beauty and your best features.

We all have aspects of our appearance that we’re self-conscious about, and you don’t need to worry about them being front-and-center in your boudoir portraits. We’ll talk in advance about anything you want to avoid in your photos and about what you are and aren’t comfortable with, and I’ll be fully mindful of that during your photo shoot. But remember that this is also an experience that shows you the beauty in yourself, so you might find yourself loving the way you look more than you expected!

  • You’ll leave feeling like you can take on the world!

Boudoir photography isn’t just about the photos; it’s an experience that will reconnect you with the strong, stunning, and spectacular woman you really are! You might be worried about whether you’ll feel awkward or uncomfortable, and while it might take you a little time to warm up to the camera, I can assure you that you’ll end up feeling quite the opposite!

  • I do this for a living - I’ll walk you through every step, and I know how to make you look your best!

If your self-consciousness is making you doubt whether you’ll like your boudoir photos, you’re probably picturing yourself on your worst days. Your look at your photo shoot will be a far cry from that, I can assure you. You’ll have the benefit of a professional hair and makeup artist as well as my styling, posing, and directing expertise to really bring out your inner bombshell.

And along the way, I’ll be with you at every turn. I’ll guide you through all of the planning, preparing, posing, and more, so you’ll never be left wondering what to do next.

As a metro Seattle boudoir photographer, I’m here to help you have a phenomenal experience! Contact Jaimié Birtel Photography if you want to start planning your dream photo shoot.
